Land dives: 

The coastline of Pico is not steep and there are various little ports and nature pols around the Island. The majestic mountain covers this places according to the wind direction. That’s why most of the time we find access to this spots from land. This dives are wonderful dives with lots of marine life of the coastal zone. Beside the smaller fish there are the inhabitants of the cracks, holes and caves that the lava has formed. Murray eals, nudy branches and crustaceans are found. Also this areas are the reproduction ground for various species like Parrot fish, Trigger fish and many more. This young fish attract the hunters so we also see Barracuda, Bonitos and Jacks. But also the big megafauna members come to visit this shallow places and we often met Mobula Rays looking for cleaning stations.

Boat dives:

We have many boat dive locations around Pico Island, in the channel to Faial, around Faial Island and also around Sao Jorge Island. The level and the quality of this dive sites are all very different. We visit many level one spots for the less experienced divers near to Pico and in the marine parks of Faial and we have lots of advanced spots that are often very deep. Also strong current can appear from nothing and thats why we do not take anybody to any of our advanced spots without a normal 2 tank dive day in the easy spots before. That’s mandatory and that’s professional to secure your safety.

Some of this spots are near by but others are far away and require some navigation. That’s why the prices are different as we have to put he fuel costs into consideration.

1 star spots from land or boat

All 1 star spots are easy dive spots and can be reached easily by land or boat. The are no long boat rides involved and we prepare all equipment on land before we board.

All land dives can be reached by our dive truck and we prepare the gear at the dive spots once we arrive.  Non diving partners are welcome to join the day as in the little ports there are cafes or restaurants near by, snorkeling is fantastic and the landscape very picturesque.

2 and 3 star Premium Dive spots

The 2 star spots need advanced certificate ( 7 m to max 30 m).

All 2 star spots start in the shallow or you are connected to a current line. That means you will never reach more than 30m depth. All dives are by boat and we prepare the equipment before we board except the Princess Alice trip.

The 3 star spots need advanced certificate plus deep dive certificate which can be made here during the dives.

All 23 star spots start in the Blue. Its important to get down fast and reach the bottom from where we will do your observations. Some spots start at 15 m, other in 35m depth. This spots are exposed and can have current.

It is main concern to dive save and sustainable. Therefore we ask everybody that wants to join our shark trips to dive with us at least 1 day before in a class 1 spot around Pico. Not only that you can see fantastic marine life during this dive day it helps us to understand what your status is. Also it helps you to feel comfortable in Atlantic water conditions, get used to your rental gear and so on.

The day before your first trip to the sharks you will meet with your shark guide and get a detailed briefing about the dive.  We follow the theories of Professor Erich Ritter / Sharkschool that there are no dangerous sharks but only dangerous situations. When we started the shark diving 12 year ago Erich educated our skippers and crew. This knowledge has been passed on since that time.  Since nowadays work with the shark scientist Lukas Müller who is one of the leading shark scientists currently. With him we develop the guidelines for divers and Freediver and update constantly.
