In the Kiswahili in East Africa, the whale shark is called the Pappa Shilling. Translated this means Die Shark with the shillings. There is a legend that says that God was as pleased as he was Whale Shark created that he instructed the angels to place gold and silver coins from heaven on the back of the Throwing fish. And so it happened that the whale shark got its signature design. As gratitude he often swims close to the surface and shimmers in the sun towards his creator
